Headline colts by Publishing at HIT Sale

Tuesday, 23 October 2012

Basil Nolan jnr is putting the finishing touches on Raheen Stud’s two year-olds catalogued for the Magic Millions HIT Sale next week.

Heading the Raheen draft for the Gold Coast are five first-crop colts by resident stallion Publishing.  “Three of them breezed at better than 11 seconds but, as a rule, we don’t overcook them just to make time,” Nolan explained.  “There’s plenty left in the tank.”

Publishing (Testa Rossa) was a G3 winning sprinter at Flemington and Caulfield and his only runner to date has been Angie’s Diary who was runner-up to Whiskey Allround in the Hopeful Stakes at Toowoomba last month.  The winner has gone on to complete a hat-trick with follow-up victories at Eagle Farm.

The Publishing – Electric Lass colt (Lot 112) clocked the quickest time at the Gold Coast last month in 10.69s.  Right behind him were the colts from Dodgette (Lot 105) in 10.78s and Relic Bay (Lot 287) in 10.94s.

The Relic Bay colt is from a half-sister to top-class Brisbane sprinter Sir Breakfast who was a G2 QTC Cup winner as well as LR winner of Grafton’s time-honoured Ramornie Hcp.  “He’s a real athlete and typical of the breed,” Nolan said.  “The Publishings are all big and strong with enough of scope to keep growing and improving.”

Publishing stands for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee at Raheen.  The Magic Millions HIT Sale is timed for Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1.
